A few months back you might remember me talking about the release of an eBook written by our CEO Eric Mosley. It turns out, when publisher McGraw Hill got a copy of that book, they immediately asked Eric to expand it into a full length printed version. I’m delighted to say that today The Crowdsourced Performance Review is officially available.
You can learn more about the book, here. But the gist of Eric’s book is both simple and, I think, quite ingenious. No one really thinks performance reviews are the best way to motivate or develop workers. For most of us, the experience is tedious and unpleasant, no matter which side of the desk we’re on.
In fact, in our recent SHRM/Globoforce Recognition Survey, only half of HR leaders (51 percent) said that their organization’s current performance review system is effective in achieving its goal.
While many business books suggest simply ditching the performance review, this book does not. Instead, it offers a new vision for the performance review system that pulls it into the modern age by using crowdsourced data from recognition to get a clearer picture of actual performance and to shift the emphasis to positive reinforcement and organizational alignment.
