At WorkHuman 2015, Wharton School professor Adam Grant stressed the importance of getting the right people on the bus—of hiring the right people that will help build a culture of givers. “If we create networks with the sole intention of getting something, we won’t succeed,” he said. “We can’t pursue the benefits of networks; the benefits ensue from investments in meaningful activities and relationships.”
Grant’s research is backed by other studies that show that the act of giving is linked to happiness, and happiness is linked to the act of giving. It creates a positive feedback loop that can propel a culture forward.
