TIME’S UP CEO Lisa Borders Joins WorkHuman 2019 Panel

Last October it was announced that Lisa Borders, former president of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) and former VP of global affairs at Coca-Cola, would take the helm as CEO of TIME’S UP. It was proof positive that TIME’S UP has evolved to be much more than a hashtag or group of celebrities at an awards show. The organization is on a mission to create safe, fair, and dignified workplaces for women of all kinds.

At WorkHuman, March 18-21 in Nashville, Tenn., Lisa will join HR and business leaders committed to uncovering ways to make systemic change and establish true equality for all employees. She will participate in a panel titled, “What’s Next for the Biggest Workplace Issue of the Decade,” along with Cindy Robbins, president and chief people officer at Salesforce.

“My work at TIME’S UP is about changing our environment and dismantling the institutions of power that have led to unacceptable abuse, mistreatment, and inequity for women,” says Lisa. “A human workplace is one that refuses to accept the current state of inequity and instead chooses respect and fair treatment for a group that makes up half our population.”

Lisa’s passion for social justice and civic duty can be traced back for decades. As a child, she attended Atlanta’s Wheat Street Baptist Church, where her grandfather Rev. William Holmes Borders was a pastor. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was also a member of that church and his children remain some of Lisa’s closest friends.

In addition to her work at the WNBA and Coca-Cola, Lisa also served as vice mayor of Atlanta and president of the Atlanta City Council. She serves on the advisory board for the Association of National Advertisers’ #SeeHer initiative, ensuring the positive portrayal of women and girls in media, and chairs the Borders Commission for the United States Olympic Committee (USOC).
