Mary Slaughter is executive vice president of global practices and consulting at The NeuroLeadership Institute, headquartered in New York. As NLI’s most experienced C-suite practitioner, Mary drives integrated strategy across all practice areas and aspects of client consulting. In her role, she partners with clients to apply the insights of neuroscience research to disrupt and transform conventional human capital practices, and to create sustainable behavior change.
Mary’s expertise spans the talent management suite, as she enjoys collaborating with clients to deﬁne coherent frameworks for leadership, culture, and organizational success. She has held executive talent roles such as chief human resources officer, chief talent officer, chief diversity and inclusion officer, and chief learning officer. Her experience spans the high tech, ﬁnancial services, and management consulting sectors, where she led sales, marketing, and human capital functions. Over her career, she has worked for notable brands such as AT&T, Lucent Technologies, Alcatel-Lucent, Wachovia, SunTrust Banks, and Deloitte Consulting. Her leadership foundations were developed with AT&T, which ultimately led to being the director of global sales enablement for Lucent Technologies.
During the technology and ﬁnancial sector meltdowns, Mary successfully led teams through disruption and large-scale transformations. Prior to joining NLI, Mary supported clients as a managing director with Deloitte Consulting in its human capital practice, as well as with North Highland Consulting. Representative consultancy clients include Marriott, Steelcase, Colgate-Palmolive, Bank of America, ADP, JPMorgan Chase, LensCrafters, William Blair, ConocoPhillips, and Microsoft.
Mary has served in many executive advisory roles, including the Association for Training Development (ATD) Board of Directors; Bersin by Deloitte’s Advisory Council; The Conference Board’s Council on Learning, Development and Organizational Performance; George Mason University’s Chief Talent Officer (CTO) Program; and Study.com, a Silicon Valley startup focused on disrupting higher education. She’s a frequent industry and executive education speaker, and has been featured in Fast Company, Talent Management, T+D, CLO, Selling Power, and Consulting magazines.
Mary enjoys international travel, the arts, and being the mom of two life-changing teenage girls. She and her family are based in Atlanta, GA.
